Built for precision, support printing, and advanced multi-material workflows
The Bambu Lab X2D Combo is the next evolution of the X-series, developed for high-precision multi-material 3D printing with professional support workflows. With its dual-extruder architecture, enclosed actively heated chamber, and intelligent sensor system, it is designed to produce functional parts, complex geometries, and clean support interfaces with impressive consistency. Paired with the AMS 2 Pro, it also enables automated multi-material and multi-colour printing with fast filament switching and integrated drying.
Dual extrusion engineered for cleaner support printing
At the core of the X2D is a dual-nozzle setup with a mechanical switching system that does not require an extra motor in the toolhead. Instead, a gear and ratchet mechanism handles nozzle switching, helping reduce toolhead mass and minimise vibrations at higher speeds.
The system combines a Direct Drive left nozzle for precise model printing with a Bowden right nozzle optimised for support materials. This makes it especially effective for model-and-support combinations, cleaner support removal, and lower overall filament waste.
Large build volume with true dual-nozzle capability
The X2D offers a 256×256×260mm build volume for main nozzle printing, while dual-nozzle printing is available in 235.5×256×256mm. This gives you the flexibility to print larger parts, technical components, and more demanding multi-material projects without sacrificing usable print space.
High-speed performance with real motion control
Designed for demanding workflows, the X2D reaches up to 1000 mm/s print speed, 20,000 mm/s² acceleration, and a maximum flow rate of 40 mm³/s. To maintain quality at those speeds, Bambu Lab integrates dynamic flow calibration and real-time monitoring, while a proprietary PMSM motor captures 20,000 data points per second to detect deviations and possible clogs early. If needed, the print can pause before quality issues appear.
Actively heated chamber for engineering materials
The enclosed build chamber is actively heated up to 65°C, giving the X2D excellent material versatility. In Cool Mode, active external air circulation helps dissipate heat for materials like PLA and PETG. In Heat Mode, the heated chamber works together with nozzle temperatures up to 300°C for technical materials such as ABS, ASA, and Nylon. The heated bed reaches up to 120°C, making the printer well suited for demanding applications.
Sensor-rich, stable, and built for accuracy
Up to 31 integrated sensors monitor the printing process, including material flow, temperature, and safety-critical conditions. For even greater precision, an optional Vision Encoder can continuously track belt tension and mechanical deviations, compensating in real time and maintaining motion accuracy of up to 50 µm across the build volume. The result is a machine focused on precision, stability, and dependable output.
Smart monitoring and quiet operation
The X2D includes AI monitoring of the build plate, Auto Hole and Contour Compensation, and a 1920×1080 chamber camera for better visibility and process control. Despite its performance, it also supports quiet operation, running at under 50 dB in Silent Mode, making it easier to integrate into workshops, studios, or office environments.
AMS 2 Pro for automated multi-material and multi-colour printing
The included AMS 2 Pro expands the X2D into a fully automated multi-material system. It automatically recognises loaded filament, manages switching independently, and keeps conditions stable throughout the print. One unit handles up to 4 spools at once, and the system can be expanded with up to 4 AMS 2 Pro units and 8 AMS HT modules for management of up to 24 filaments in parallel. Thanks to its integrated servo motor, filament switching is up to 60% faster, reducing print times and improving workflow efficiency.
Integrated filament drying for better material consistency
One of the biggest advantages of the AMS 2 Pro is its built-in drying system, which can dry up to 4 spools simultaneously. An automatic humidity control system with an electromagnetic air valve regulates the internal environment, while rotating spools ensure even drying. This helps maintain stable material properties and more consistent print quality, especially with moisture-sensitive filaments.
Professional ecosystem and workflow integration
The X2D Combo is fully integrated into the Bambu Lab ecosystem, including Bambu Studio, Bambu Handy, and related software and services. It supports WiFi, touchscreen, mobile app, and PC control, includes 8GB eMMC storage plus USB, and works with Bambu Studio as well as third-party slicers that support G-code. This makes it easy to fit into both advanced hobby and professional production workflows.
