Snapmaker U1 – Four toolheads, less waste, more freedom

The Snapmaker U1 brings true tool-changing technology to desktop multi-color and multi-material printing. Its four independent toolheads keep different filaments loaded and ready, allowing the SnapSwap™ system to change tools in around five seconds instead of repeatedly unloading, reloading and purging a single nozzle. Combined with a generous 270×270×270 mm build volume and toolhead speeds up to 500 mm/s, the U1 is built for colorful models, functional multi-material parts and support-intensive prints with significantly less filament waste

Precision across all four toolheads

Automatic toolhead offset calibration aligns all four nozzles within 0.04 mm, while Input Shaping, Pressure Advance, automatic flow compensation and mesh bed leveling help maintain clean surfaces and consistent extrusion at higher speeds. Steel-ball kinematic couplings lock each toolhead securely into position and have been tested by Snapmaker through more than one million tool changes.

The automatic filament system handles loading, filament detection and Backup Mode, while RFID recognition automatically identifies compatible Snapmaker filament. A built-in chamber camera provides live monitoring, and onboard detection systems monitor air printing, toolhead swaps, build plate presence and obstructions.

Any last questions?

Still deciding whether this is the right 3D printer for you?

Find clear answers to the most common questions about print size, compatible materials, multi-color printing, included accessories and everyday use.

The U1 is especially well suited to makers, designers and small businesses that regularly print in multiple colors or materials and want to reduce the time and filament wasted during material changes. Its four-toolhead architecture also makes it useful for models that combine rigid and flexible materials or use dedicated support filament.

The U1 provides a 270×270×270 mm build volume, giving you more room than a typical 256 mm-class desktop printer for larger models, functional parts and multi-material projects.

The U1 has four independent toolheads, each with its own nozzle and filament. Instead of unloading one filament and flushing another through the same nozzle, the printer parks the current toolhead and picks up the next one in around five seconds.

The U1 can keep four different filaments loaded at the same time, with one assigned to each toolhead. These can be different colors of the same material or compatible material combinations such as PLA with support material or PETG with TPU.

Yes. Because each filament remains in its own nozzle, the printer does not need to completely flush one color out before loading another. Snapmaker reports up to 80% less material waste in its comparative multi-color testing, although the exact saving depends on the model, color layout and slicing settings.

In its standard configuration, Snapmaker lists PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA and PCTG. Adding the optional Top Cover expands support to PET, ABS, ASA, PA and PC, while carbon- and glass-fiber-reinforced materials additionally require a hardened steel nozzle.

Yes. Snapmaker officially supports third-party 1.75 mm filament, so AzureFilm materials can be used as long as the material itself is compatible with the printer configuration. RFID automatic recognition is limited to compatible Snapmaker filament, so third-party material settings must be selected manually.

Yes. The U1 automatically handles mesh bed leveling, vibration compensation, flow calibration and alignment between the four toolheads. It also includes a 2 MP chamber camera together with air-printing, toolhead-swap and build-plate detection systems for more reliable print monitoring.
